National borders should not be thought of as separating walls, but as active joints linking complimentary parts of an embodied geopolitical continent. Its contiguous states make up a regional neighborhood containing common interests as well as diverse cultural roots. With this larger view in mind each autonomous nation’s perimeter is also an international portal enabling vital life-improving transport both ways, the continuous breathing in and out of trade and communication necessary for healthy coexistence. Living organisms must share the collective space and resources of any multi-layered ecosystem with a host of other entities whether they wish to or not.
