As the old saying goes, it’s usually better to have quality over quantity. When I was a student, we were encouraged to write unnecessarily long essays. The more, the better. I’ve since learned that the trick is to present a lot of information using only a few words. Once you try, you realize it’s not lazy. The reality is that it’s way easier to babble than to be concise. That’s the magic of a well-written short-form piece. For the writer, it encourages deep and clear thinking. For the reader, it’s like taking a super-concentrated dose of knowledge in a couple of minutes.
